and mountain foods of the season are on sale. In autumn, Saimyoji chestnuts
(the largest chestnuts in Japan) and products made from the chestnuts are also
sold. In the refreshment corner, homemade meals prepared by farmhouse mothers
using their own home-grown rice and vegetables are available. Soft-serve ice
creams made using the village's specialties, spinach, chestnuts and buckwheat,
is a popular treat.
