Sightseeing Spots: Tazawako Area

In 1940,
following national policies, the strong acidic water of Tamagawa was lead into
Tazawako for making it a reservoir, killing the large part of Tazawako's fish.
In memory of the fish and the lake-goddess Tatsuko, the resident priests of
the area's temples collected voluntary subscriptions and erected the statue.
It stands today, facing the lake.
